About Mktforge

Mktforge is a marketing platform for founders and early-stage marketing teams. It handles the initial research and first drafts of the materials that make up a strong marketing foundation (personas, positioning, messaging, and competitive analysis) so small teams can go to market with a real strategy without devoting their limited resources to the grunt work of marketing.

Why build Mktforge?

Early-stage companies skip the marketing foundation work for a good reason: there's never time. Product and deals dominate every week, and positioning gets written on the fly, in the heads of the founders. By the time a marketer is hired, the company has messaging and positioning it can’t even explain (but good luck trying to change it).

Mktforge was built to make the foundation easy enough to do early. Give it your website, and it runs the same frameworks senior startup marketers use. It makes sense of who buys, why they buy, how to position, and what to say, and transforms its findings into first drafts of usable marketing materials.

Who's behind Mktforge?

Mktforge is built and run by Tyler Wishnoff, a 4X founding marketer who has been the first or only marketer at several early-stage startups. Mktforge is based on the work he found himself redoing at every company, turned into tools that do the research in minutes.

How does Mktforge operate?

• Free to use. There is no fee to use Mktforge. You connect your own AI provider API key and pay your provider directly for what you run. See Is Mktforge Free?
• Public source code. The code is public on GitHub. Read it before you trust it with your data.
• API costs can be covered. It’s ideal if you bring your own API key, but you can request free hosted access from any page on the website. We’ll get in touch and email you an invite code that runs Mktforge on our key on a case-by-case basis. We’ll also happily cover costs if you agree to provide feedback.
• Your data is never sold. Full details in the privacy policy.

How does Mktforge work?

Currently, Mktforge offers nine tools: Docs Manager, Customer Finder, Persona Builder, Positioning Crafter, Message Drafter, Message Targeter, Opportunity Finder, Market Tracker, and Battle Card Generator. Each tool takes the limited information a startup is expected to have and builds foundational marketing documents in minutes.
