Is Mktforge free?

Yes. There's no subscription and no per-seat fee. You bring your own AI provider API key, and your provider bills you directly for the runs you make. A full run of Mktforge usually costs around $11 in tokens.

How bring-your-own-key works

Every Mktforge module is powered by an AI agent. Instead of charging you for that usage, Mktforge lets you connect an API key from your own AI provider account on the Manage Profile page. From then on, your runs go through your key and show up on your provider's bill, with a badge in the app confirming which key is in use.

Your key is stored encrypted and is only ever used to run the modules you start. You can remove it at any time.

What does it cost to run Mktforge on my API key?

It depends on the module and your provider's pricing (currently, only Claude is supported). A battle card or persona is a short research task, while a full positioning run reads more and writes more. Set a spend limit on your provider account so you're never surprised, and use a separate key for Mktforge so you can see exactly what it's using. Below is a table of estimates for what you can currently expect each Mktforge tool to cost per run:

Module	Estimated cost
Battle Card (×2)	~$1.70
Persona Builder (×2)	~$1.80
Find My Customer	$0.50–0.80
Marketing Opportunities	$0.60–0.90
Build Positioning	$1.50–2.50
Draft Messaging	$1.50–3.00
Market Tracker (~4 boxes)	$1.50–2.50
Target Messaging	$0.20–0.40
Company Brief	~$0.05
Total	~$9.50–13.50

What do you need to use Mktforge?

• An API key from your AI provider (currently, only Claude is supported), with a spend limit set, or a free hosted access code. Request one from any page on this site and we’ll email you a code that runs Mktforge on our key instead.
• Your website. This is the foundational piece of information that powers every tool on the platform. It’s OK if your website is limited; Mktforge’s goal is to help you fix that. Alternatively, you can use a competitor's URL if you don’t yet have a website and are just trying to do some initial research.

The fine print

Mktforge is offered as-is. You're responsible for your API key, the charges it incurs, and your provider's terms, and Mktforge assumes no liability for either. The code is public, so you can evaluate the security and privacy of the app yourself before entering anything sensitive. Your data is never sold. Full details in the terms and privacy policy.

Will Mktforge always be free?

We hope to offer Mktforge for free in some form for as long as we can. The bring-your-own-key model is how Mktforge supports that today, and there are no plans to change it. If a paid tier ever appears, it will be in addition to this, not instead of it.
